ARA-290 10 mg

ARA-290 (Cibinetide) is a short 11-amino-acid peptide cut from erythropoietin (EPO) and built to keep only its tissue-repair signal. It binds the innate repair receptor and does not raise red blood cells, which is why it is used in nerve repair, wound healing and inflammation research.

ARA-290 is studied for how it calms inflammation and protects nerves and tissue after injury, with the founding work showing that helix-B peptides trigger repair signalling without the blood-cell effect of EPO (Brines et al., 2008, PNAS).

Scientific Background

Erythropoietin is best known for driving red blood cell production, but it also signals through a second receptor that protects and repairs stressed tissue. That signaling runs through a heteromer of the erythropoietin receptor and the β-common receptor (CD131), the innate repair receptor, which appears at sites of injury rather than in the bone marrow.

ARA-290 (Cibinetide) was engineered to isolate that second function. Its 11-amino-acid sequence reproduces the aqueous surface of erythropoietin’s helix B, the region that contacts the innate repair receptor, so it activates the heteromer without engaging the homodimeric receptor that drives erythropoiesis.

This selectivity makes it a clean tool for studying repair signaling on its own, and ARA-290 has been studied in models of nerve injury, ischemia-reperfusion, wound healing, and inflammation.
