GHRP-2 is a synthetic hexapeptide, a six-residue chain built to act on the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) expressed on the pituitary. It belongs to the first generation of growth-hormone-releasing peptides, the family that came before selective compounds such as Ipamorelin, and it remains one of the most widely used reference secretagogues in this area of study.
It carries a deep research base going back to the structure-activity work that defined the class (Bowers, 1993, Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology). It is also known as pralmorelin.

Scientific Background
The growth-hormone-releasing peptides emerged from work by Cyril Bowers and colleagues, who found that small opioid-peptide-derived sequences could act directly on the pituitary to release growth hormone through a receptor distinct from the growth-hormone-releasing-hormone receptor. That receptor was later identified as GHS-R1a, the endogenous receptor for ghrelin.
GHRP-2 was developed as a second-generation member of that series, a six-residue scaffold with greater metabolic stability and higher potency than the original GHRP-6. It is registered as pralmorelin and carries the development codes KP-102 and GPA-748. Receptor research established that its activity does not proceed through the GHRH receptor, confirming a separate secretagogue pathway.
Unlike later selective compounds, GHRP-2 engages GHS-R1a without the receptor selectivity of Ipamorelin, which is precisely why it remains a useful comparator in laboratory studies of secretagogue class behaviour.
